Alderman Sean McDermott -
Ward 3 -

Ward 3 Alderman Sean McDermott and his wife Barbara are
17 year residents of the City of Countryside. The three McDermott
children attend Highlands Elementary and Middle School, and Lyons
Township High School.
Sean McDermott was appointed Ward 3 Alderman in September
2007 to fill a vacancy, and was elected Alderman in April 2009. Alderman
McDermott is Chairman of the Economic Development Committee and also
serves on the Recreation and Police committees.
Alderman McDermott is employed as the director of
communications and policy development at the Cook County Department of
Public Health. As a public health policy analyst, he is responsible for
the research, development, and promotion of public health laws and
regulations. His public health policy work has been recognized with
awards from the National Association of City and County Health
Officials, Illinois Public Health Association, and the Illinois
Association of Public Health Administrators.
Alderman McDermott is active in his community having done
volunteer work with the following boards, community associations and
non-profit organizations: Aging Well, American Cancer Society, American
Heart Association, Chicago Area Mountain Bike Riders Association, Cook
County Primary Health Care Council Access to Care, Lyons Township Little
League, LaGrange Babe Ruth Baseball, St Cletus Food Pantry, and Salt
Creek Watershed Network.
Alderman McDermott is a 1983 graduate of Saint Mary’s
College, Winona, Minnesota.
