Community Development - Sales
Tax Revenue Sharing Program
The City created the Sales Tax Revenue Sharing Program in 2000 to
assist its existing business community with expansion projects and to
also support new construction projects by new and current businesses
within the community. The program allows for the City to share local
sales taxes with a City business as a financial incentive on a
commercial expansion or new construction project. It also allows the
City to maintain a viable sales tax base and promote employment
opportunities for area residents.
The Community Development Department reviews all applications and then
makes a recommendation to City Council for their approval.
The City of Countryside currently has sales tax revenue sharing
agreements in place with the following City businesses (agreement start
dates in parentheses):
- Continental Jeep Inc. – Expansion/New Construction of 32,000 sq.
ft. facility at 5800 LaGrange Rd. (2001)
- Dominick’s Finer Foods Inc. – Expansion/New Construction of
20,295 sq. ft. facility at 6704 Joliet Rd. (2001)
- Home Depot USA, Inc. – Expansion/New Construction of 113,000 sq.
